Scratch Resistant Signature Closet Rods

George Chowanec • Oct 16, 2020
Since my last blog comparing round vs. oval closet rods https://www.allaboutclosetsnj.com/blog/custom-closet-round-vs-oval-closet-rods there is another pole that has been introduced to the industry. The pole is called the signature series pole from TAG hardware. The new hourglass shape should not be confused with the older oval closet rod as their profiles, durability and material construction are not the same and are further apart in every aspect.

What makes the Signature Pole a game changer in the industry:

  • Aluminum construction – Will never rust or pit. Older oval poles are constructed of thin walled steel which can rust and pit.
  • Sturdy – The hourglass shape makes this pole remarkably strong. It does not bend up and down and does not succumb to any torsional twisting due to heavy weight. The oval rod just cannot compete.
  • Scratch resistant – The pole has an imbedded plastic cover on the top of the pole which will stop dry cleaning hangers and metal closet hangers from scratching the rod.
  • Installation – All About Closets invested in a cutting machine that cuts the poles to length with laser accuracy to within 1/32 of an inch or about half the thickness of a dime.
  • Color – The signature series is available in Polished Chrome, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Matte Aluminum, Satin Nickle, Graphite and Matte Gold.
  • Price – Oval is the least expensive in the industry. It’s very cheap to manufacture and looks cheap to the eye. The signature pole looks expensive but comes at a price point that is similar to the round pole as discussed in my other blog.
  • Encapsulated pole cups for Signature poles - The supporting structure for any pole are the pole cups that fit into the system holes in the side panels which in turn support the pole. The oval pole cup is open on the top and the signature pole encapsulates the pole. The majority of time the competition cuts the oval poles haphazardly showing an uneven edge and typically cut short due to poor installation practices. What does this mean to you? The oval closet pole will pull the pole cup away from the side partition and show gaps on the sides and if cut too short will collapse over time. The signature pole cups and poles hands down look like a high end finished product with no exposed jagged pole ends and will not pull away from the side panels.

In summary

When investing in a beautiful closet system why settle for a pole that scratches, rusts, can succumb to catastrophic failure and overall looks less than appealing? All About Closets chooses the signature pole because the details matter.
