How Much Does a Custom Closet Cost?

George Chowanec • Apr 17, 2015

One of the first questions that many of our clients ask is, “How much does a custom closet cost?” As you can imagine, the answer is nearly always, “It depends.” Due to the nature of custom closets, these are built to the specifications of each client. This means that the features, materials and accessories you choose might make your closet notably more or less expensive than someone else’s.

While it would be beyond the scope of this blog to discuss every feature and characteristic that could raise or lower the price, we have created a document that goes into all of the ins and outs of closet pricing. You can access the document by clicking here and entering your name and email address.

In the document, you’ll learn about:

  • Basic pricing structure. This is a ballpark estimate and can encompass a range of several hundred dollars. The basic pricing structure is a good place to start, because it will give you an idea of whether this type of home improvement is likely to fall into your budget.

  • Design features. There are certain design features that will cost more, and we go over a few of them. Of course, the consideration is whether these features are worth spending extra money on if they will add to the life and usage of your custom closet.

  • Ways to save money. There are small and large changes that we can make to a basic custom closet that can save you money. Again, this becomes a matter of balance: Spending less in an area might slightly reduce the function of any given feature in your closet.

The tips and strategies are specifically geared to homeowners who are interested in customizing their reach-in closets. These include coat closets, linen closets, kids’ closets and guest room closets. If you have a master bedroom walk-in closet that you would like to have customized, we will be uploading a new document soon.
